Upcoming: Freep Impact's Birthday!

Hey guys! This Sunday will be Freep Impact's 1 year anniversary (meaning I created the Fark account Freep Impact a year ago from Sunday).

I've been playing around with various topics to mark the occasion, so to speak, but I haven't settled on anything yet. Do you guys have any suggestions?

  1. Dang I can't believe it's been so long. Keep up the good work, if I think of any great ideas for the anniversary post I will let you know

  2. I'd love to find a way to celebrate on Fark in a way subtle enough to avoid getting bannated...You are still deeply missed.

  3. A greatest hits? You know --- look back at some of the year's most WTF?! comments

  4. Definitely a best of or superlatives post would be cool. Is there a voting feature on this blog? Vote for most racist, most nonsensical, more paranoid, etc.

  5. Happy accountiversary. Given that this Sunday would be the Sunday before the superbowl, I'd vote for any football related FR derp. There's gotta be a bunch of Tebow stuff at least/

  6. How about a round up of compassionate freeper posts? celebrate by trying to prove that humanity is not totally rubbish. Love the site, thank you for keeping me infromed.

  7. Just make a new Fark account, and do it again on Fark until you get banned again.

I still don't get why they banned you. You drove up traffic to the politics tab, which means more ad views, which means more ad clicks, which means more money. Drew is pretty dumb sometimes.

  8. The only thing that's allowed to drive traffic on Fark is right wing trolling.

  9. The thing is I wasn't actually banned, and if I did that, they'd probably ban my main account, which would make me sad. Also, I think it wasn't that I was doing it at all, it was that they thought I was doing it too much. Otherwise they wouldn't allow CDP to continue, but he only shows up once or twice a week, from what I can tell.

  11. Oh, that's right. Thinking back, I remember people told me that you were "asked to stop." Which is even worse than being banned, I think.

Maybe what you should do is pick one good story a week and do it? Maybe its too late now though too :(

Just makes me sad. Fark needs a little less troll and a little more funny these days!

  12. I've actually never been too upset about them asking me to stop. Another major reason they gave me was that people were copying me and posting quotes from other places, and they were worried it would just get out of hand. I wasn't as pleased when they deleted any reference to Freep Impact for a while, as it made it more difficult for me to communicate what had happened to other people, and to communicate that I wasn't going John Galt on Fark as a result. They seem to have stopped doing that, though. As a result, people who actually enjoyed what I did are still *just* discovering this blog.

I agree that it added some hilarity to the threads. CDP still does it on a pretty regular basis, with just one quote, so if you're looking for me in moderation there, he's already on it :)

  13. I agree, the thing that bothered me most about the incident was the same thing that bothers me about every instance of moderating on Fark. The complete blackout, as if it never happened. Absolutely no meta-discussion allowed.

A certain other website that shall not be named (no not Reddit ugh) that I visit has much stricter moderation than Fark, however every user has a public rap sheet showing how many times they've been banned or probated, the reason why, and a link to the offending post. All that information right out in the open.

  14. FI could you do something on this?

The article title pops up free republic links in Google search results, if there's enough to make a post I bet it would be good for teh lulz.

  15. Sure. There are two or three. And I already correctly predicted that the first comment on at least one of them would be a "black people are the real racists" comment, lol
